January 2022 Newsletter
Grace, mercy, and peace to you in the year of our Lord 2022!
Amen.
Dear Family of God at Grace,
I went back and looked at the letter that I wrote to all of you last January. I said that our hope is not in the New Year 2021. Our hope is in Jesus. Whether you had a wonderful year or a difficult one our hope is always in our Lord, come what may. He has us in His hands and there is nothing to fear.
I don’t know what is in store in the year of our Lord 2022. I’m sure it will be filled with joys and sorrows just like every other year. Maybe this will be the year of our Lord’s return? Who knows? Only our gracious God! Come Lord Jesus!
I want to thank all of you for making this Christmas season such a joyous time! I hope and pray that the worship was as uplifting and edifying for you as was for our staff! Speaking on behalf of all our staff members we would like to say, “Thank you, Thank you!!” you, dear people of Grace, are so very generous to us and we truly appreciate your generosity! The staff gift was overwhelming! It is a privilege to serve you all!
I want to make you aware of an event we have scheduled for February 5th. I know its January, but February will be here soon enough, and I want to give you time to mark your calendar. We have Rev. A. Trevor Sutton coming to speak to us on that Saturday and Sunday. Pastor Sutton is the senior pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Haslett, Michigan. He is currently a graduate student in Writing and Rhetoric at Michigan State University. He is a graduate of Concordia Ann Arbor and Concordia Seminary St. Louis.
Pastor Sutton has written several books, Redeeming Technology: A Christian Approach to Healthy Digital Habits; Clearly Christian: Following Jesus in this Age of Confusion; Authentic Christianity: How Lutheran Theology Speaks to a Postmodern World; Why Should I trust the Bible; Being Lutheran; and Hero of Faith – Dr. Bessie Rehwinkel.
Pastor Sutton is going to spend some time talking to us about being “Clearly Christian” in our baptism as we live in this sin sick world. He will also be leading our Sunday Bible class. Please make room in your schedule for this wonderful event. I have heard pastor Sutton speak at the National Youth Gathering. He is a wonderful speaker and brings God given insight into living the Christian life and proclaiming Christ in this world of technology. Let’s give pastor Sutton a warm and joyous Grace Lutheran welcome! Mark your calendar! More to follow.
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ at Grace, my prayer for you is that the year of our Lord 2022 will bring joy in the Lord. Knowing that 2022 will also bring sorrow, I pray that God will strengthen you as only He can, to face the sorrows in Christ. We are all in this together. We, as the body of Christ, will be together as we face whatever comes in this new year. Thanks be to God! May God bless you always!
In His Service,
Pastor Lingsch
