Rev. Peter Reetz, Senior Pastor, was born in Naila, Germany, the son of Elfrieda and Richard Reetz, and was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Church there. In June of 1951, he and his parents and younger sister, Margit, came to America and settled in New York. After high school and college, he graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois, having spent a year in vicarage serving a mission congregation in Maltby, Washington.
He served as the first pastor of a new mission congregation, Messiah Lutheran Church of Bullock Creek, Midland, MI (1972-1977) and pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Huntington, WV (1977-1987). While in WV, he was instrumental in the establishment of Our Savior, Hurricane, WV and Our Savior, Paintsville, KY.
In 1987 Pastor Reetz accepted a call to Zion Lutheran Church, Columbus, OH. He served as First VP of the OH District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a member of the Mission Board of the OH District, LCMS, was Pastoral Advisor to the OH District Lutheran Laymen’s League, and Zone Counselor of the Central Zone Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. He was founder and Pastoral Advisor to the Central OH Mission Association, an association of congregations formed for the purpose of establishing new churches. He also served as Chaplain to the Ohio State Fair.
Pastor Reetz was called to Grace Lutheran Church, Naples, FL on August 24, 2003 and was installed into the Holy Ministry as Senior Pastor, November 2, 2003.
He is married to the former Valerie Egger, a graduate of Concordia, Bronxville NY and Concordia Teachers College, River Forest IL. They have three children; Seth (Erin), Erica, and Kristen (Frank) Yanchak and two granddaughters; Reagan Reetz and Meredith Yanchak.
